Welcome

At Pilates Plus, we are committed to an integrated approach to physical well-being that shifts the current exercise paradigm to emphasise optimal movement for meaningful, long-term results.

At every stage of the training process we teach our clients that building bodies to move with ease, efficiency and power depends on clear intention about what movement is, where it comes from and how it works.

We embrace the principles of empowerment, mutual respect, inclusion and collaboration and believe strongly in nurturing long-term relationships with our studio clients and all members of our teaching and support staff.

History

The Pilates Method, developed in the 1920s by Joseph Pilates, is an exercise system focused on improving flexibility, strength, stability, and body awareness, without building bulk.

While teaching Contrology, the coordination of the mind, body and spirit, Pilates concentrates on a number of key elements to condition the entire body: proper alignment, control, precision, breathing, flowing movement, centering, and concentration.

Initially used as rehabilitation for soldiers returning from war and as injury prevention and enhanced training for dancers such as Martha Graham and George Balanchine, Pilates remains one of the most effective ways to keep the body healthy and strong for life.
